John Cottrell’s Fancy Italian Bacon Burger Roll-Ups

Ingredients:

1 sheet of Saran wrap

8 strips Bacon, regular or thick sliced

1 pound lean hamburger meat, uncooked

1 egg

1/2 cup grated Parmesan Cheese

1 cup Italian-style bread crumbs

1/2 tsp garlic powder or garlic salt

In a large mixing bowl, combine the hamburger meat, egg, cheese, bread crumbs and garlic salt.

Mix well by hand and set aside.

Place the Saran wrap on a flat surface and layer slices of bacon crosswise, overlapping slightly.

Spread the meat evenly over the overlapping slices of bacon.

Roll up the bacon and beef mixture like a jelly roll and wrap tightly with Saran wrap.

Set in the refrigerator for a minimum of two hours to let the mixture set.

Remove the Saran wrap and cut the loaf into inch-thick burgers.

Broil until done on one side, about 7 minutes, then turn and broil on the other side until done.
